HOW TO SET YOUR GOALS
How do you set your goals?How do you set your business goals or any kind of goals for that matter?
There are few misconceptions about how to set goals.Long term, short term,the truth is goals define our future.Many people think they have to start by making huge goals but starting with the small ones can be, in fact more efficient.
” Today and I'm not going to lose 2 hours on a phone conversation talking about things that I won't even remember the next day “.Or… “This week I'm going to the gym at least three times or even better this week I'm going to the gym 3 times “.These may seem small things but there are the small things that you need to start with.If you cannot achieve small goals how will you accomplish the big ones?Saying things like…
- I want to be rich
- I want to have more time
- I want to be more healthy
It's not enough!It doesn't work because you're not being specific.You need to be more precise about what you want to achieve.Have more money can mean one thing for me and another thing to someone else.
If you say you want to be more healthy that's also not specific.It depends on how healthy you are now and in which areas of your body and mind you want to be healthier.So you see…if you're not actually specific you're not actually setting a goal.
Write things down.That actually gives it more power.You get a lot of more clarity when you do this.One of the reasons why we don't get things done it's because we don't have the clarity, we don't actually visualize where we want to go.Well… if you don't know where you want to go how, how will you get there?How will you find a way to get there?How will you know what actions should you be taking or not?
What can you do?
Write down 3 goals you want to achieve for next week.It doesn't have to be big goals, start with small things like ” not hit the snooze button everyday (4 out of 5)”, ” don't go for grocery shopping before having my lunch “or ” don't go to sleep before making my to do list for next day “.Baby steps!You will notice that you'll be more focused on them and every win that you have will only increase your self-esteem.That is when you start moving on to the bigger ones.Step by step, little by little in the direction of your goals.Remember…big events are the result of small things.In this case, small wins!
